Families and Christmas

I love the Christmas holidays. And what better way to prepare for Christmas than to capture your family through photographs. I had the honor to photograph two different families. They both have become dear friends to me, and I enjoyed creating memories for them that will last a lifetime. I enjoyed getting their Christmas cards showcasing their beautiful families in the pictures that I took for them. I thought they both came out beautifully, and couldn't wait to share them here. Enjoy!

Andrew & Cindy - Engagement Pictures

Love is in the air, and I got the pleasure of taking my dear friends Andrew and Cindy's engagement pictures! They are such a sweet couple, and I can't wait to celebrate their marriage. I was very honored that they asked me to take their pictures. I asked my son to come as my assistant for the day. and we were off to take the pictures. I thought they turned out beautiful. There were so many to choose from. Enjoy!

Hannah's Baby Shower

April Showers bring...Baby Showers. Yep, it's that time again. I just love throwing parties. This shower was special, as this was my first baby shower I gave since I moved to Dallas. Of course, I couldn't do it without the help of some amazing friends.

Since my dear friend, Wendy, didn't move with me, I actually attempted making cupcakes on my own, and I must say they turned out pretty good. They may not have been expertly decorated, I still think they turned out pretty cute! The food was fairly simple, as I am not a foodie. I bought some salad and a veggie try. We bought some deli meats and cheeses for people to build their own sandwiches. Along with the cupcakes, I made some raspberry streusel muffins.

The décor is always my favorite part. I love decorating! As always, I enjoy adding scripture to the theme of the party. This one was about the blessing of children! As this is Hannah's first baby, and a girl, I went all things girly for this shower. I went with a spring theme - April showers bring may flowers, as Baby Eliza is due in May.  The colors were black, white, and pink. I covered my living room in ribbons and flowers, and lots of pearls. It was beautiful, and it looked like spring - the very look I was trying to achieve.

The games we played were fun. We had pearl necklaces for all of the guests to wear. If you catch someone saying the word "baby," you would take their necklace. The one with the most necklaces won. The other games we played, were what does momma think the baby will look like, draw the baby with your eyes closed, and try to figure out the baby items hidden in a bag. What I liked best about the games were the prizes. We took advantage of Bath and Body Works sale of buy 4 items, get a 5th free, and with that we had prizes for the games.

All in all it was a great party, and I hope Hannah had a great time as we celebrated her baby to be!

A Mother's Love - Hannah's Maternity Pictures

One of my favorite mother stories in the Bible, is that of Hannah, the mother of Samuel. I love her faith and devotion, as she awaited the day in which she would become a mother. I suppose it is because of the journey I have been on as I dream and wait for a child. In the mean time, I have enjoyed celebrating the new moms around me. When my dear friend, Hannah told me she was pregnant, I was so excited for her. I knew she would make a great mother.

When she asked me to take her maternity pictures, I jumped at the opportunity - okay, maybe I hounded her to ask me to take her maternity pictures, but that's just a technicality. This was my first photo shoot since I moved to Dallas, and I was excited to explore the new terrain. I loved the vibrant colors in the Bishop Arts District, and just knew that was perfectly matched to Hannah's vibrant personality.

Here are some of my favorites... Enjoy!

Baby Shower Time - again

I'm not sure if I have gone too much into our infertility issues. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for the past 5 years. Not a good way to start out a Baby Shower post, is it? Anyways, we recently had a woman's conference at our church, and when the speaker spoke about when she and her husband were trying for a baby, she threw a baby shower for everyone that was having a baby. I can totally relate. Now, don't get me wrong, I am completely overjoyed each time we welcome a new baby into this world. I love throwing parties, and I love celebrating new mommies. I just thought it was funny when she said that, because that is exactly where I am at. I am trusting that God will grant us a child when He is ready to, until then, I am having a blast throwing parties for the mommies to be in my world!

So, when the opprotunity came to throw a baby shower for my friend, Cheyenne, I was so excited. The shower was actually hosted through our Children's ministry, as that is how I know Cheyenne. I couldn't have done it without the help from some good friends.

As she is having a girl, I decided to go full fledge girly, and made everything pink! I thought it turned out well. As always, my friend Wendy made the cake, and as always it was the best! Enjoy the pics!
